I hold this truth to be self-evident, that all people are created equal,
that they are
endowed with divine, unalienable, rights and among
these are life, liberty and
the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are
instituted by the people,
deriving their just powers only from the consent of the governed. That
the enumeration of certain rights, shall not be
construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people. That
powers not delegated to the United States are reserved to the people.
